Freedom will never come from the government; it comes from within and has a history of resistance. Independence Day was never intended to be a holiday. It is about terrorists who overthrew a legitimate government system to put the new terrorist system in its place. It wasn't a revolutionary act, just a civil action. The only proper functions of a government are the police, to protect you from criminals; the army, to protect you from foreign invaders; and the courts, to protect your property and contracts from breaches or fraud by others, to settle disputes by rational rules, according to objective law. Thus, the only proper purpose of a government is to protect individual rights. The smallest minority on earth is the individual. Those who deny individual rights cannot claim to be defenders of minorities. Individual rights are not subject to a public vote. The political function of rights is to protect minorities from oppression by majorities or individuals from group mobs.
We are necessarily the hero in our own story; We are the villain in someone else's story. We are doomed when the government has determined that the individual is the villain in their story. Individual rights have become subject to mob rule. The government no longer protects individual rights and is moving toward ruling by the collective. Assimilation is no longer a science fiction or political novel concept but happens in real-time. Assimilation occurs when individuals sacrifice their individuality to integrate into society. On the surface, it would seem reasonable; however, not if the assimilation is being forced. In our current civilization, entropy reigns supreme. The current goal of cultural assimilation appears to be control, not success.
The best example of why assimilation is chaos is imagining a spiritual assimilation of all the religions. In the end, instead of a shared spiritual encounter, the world will be controlled by the most brutal faith in the name of their god, and the rest of those being assimilated will be dead. The only proper function of a government is to protect individual rights. As an individual, if I choose not to be assimilated, an adequate government would defend those rights. Is the concept of assimilation evil? No, assimilation has been used successfully by scientists for centuries. It only becomes evil when a government uses it to control citizens. The most important thing you can do is not to interfere in someone else's life. The most important thing a government can do is not to interfere with an individual's life out of lust for power or, worse yet, fear.
